Caving in the Abode of the Clouds, Meghalaya, NE India 2017
60 minute Lecture|Mr Simon Brooks
Abstract
Caving in the Abode of the Clouds, Meghalaya 2017 represented the 25th year of systematic cave exploration in NE India. The traditionally multi-national team extened 4 know caves and explored 15 new caves, mapping another 13.8 kms of new cave passage and taking the total lenght of mapped cave in Meghalaya to 468 kms. The expedition was the usual mix of fun, feasting, frolocking through the forests with locals and forays into yet more wonderful Meghalayan Cave Systems. Come along and find out why fragile items are best not packed on the top of the expedition truck but its a good idea to have the alcohol in tinnys and not bottles, how one of Meghalaya's finest river caves has become bigger and why Krem Puri (Fairies Cave) is the 'a-mazing' sandstone cave that wants to keep on giving.
