Hidden Earth 2017
Myanmar Shan Plateau Expedition 16/17
45 minute Lecture|Ms Loveridge Fleur

Abstract
This was the 7th British led Shan Plateau expedition in Myanmar (Burma). We were all set to break new ground in reconnaissance of an unlooked at region in the east of the country when all permits were denied at the last minute and plans had to change to revisit more well known areas. Despite this we managed to make the best of some new local contacts who helped us to stay in a rural village for the first time (rather than make lengthy commutes by truck) as well as to visit a previously off limits area. In total we surveyed around 4.5km of new cave in a number of locations including leaving a promising pothole still going for the future.
