Caving in Belgium - Ardennes
45 minute Lecture|Iain Crossley
Abstract
Caving in Belgium - Ardennes
The Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark in southern Belgium is better known for its picturesque medieval towns, castles, craft beer, and chocolates. The Ardennes region is also the heart of Belgian caving, home to the famous Grottes de Han, Pere Noel, and Grottes de Hotton with many easily accessible and well-decorated caves as well as the option for more serious exploration.
This session explores the 2026 Northern Pennine Club ‘expedition’ to the Ardennes and the stunning subterranean splendour which is accessible as a type I and type II caving holiday rather than the type II and type III experience of deprivation on expedition.
