Hidden Earth 2024
Forest of Dean Round Up
45 minute Lecture|Paul Taylor
Abstract
Exploration and Research work in the Forest of Dean continues. Resurveying of the Wet Sink (Slaughter Stream Cave) system has seen its length grow to 14.1km. It is the longest Cave in the UK currently with a single entrance and sitting in Dolomite Rock. It may be the longest in Europe in Dolomite. Recently a connection was established between Kuwait Passage and the Re Melt Plant Series producing a 4.6km Round Trip. However, this is just the tip of the Iceberg for the future potential. The Forest of Dean Caving Area may be small, but it certainly punches way above its weight. The Forest Update provides an insight into what is going on.
