SpeleoSisters+: Alternative spaces in caving
30 minute Lecture|Nadia R-c
Abstract
SpeleoSisters+ is a community group for women and gender diverse people in caving that was founded in February of 2020. The pandemic slowed down the initial momentum for our inaugural event, however the Facebook group has now grown to over 250 members and we have run six successful weekend events to date. The success of this group demonstrates the need for alternative spaces in caving.
Join us to hear about the benefits of creating a space for women and gender diverse people in caving. Hear from our members what they have gained from joining SpeleoSisters+ and why they keep coming back. We will discuss what we can learn from this and can bring into the wider caving community to improve inclusion in our sport.
