Fun Facts about Fear!
60 minute Lecture|Miss Faye Litherland
Abstract
I have been a caver for over 20 years and have independently studied psychology in relation to stress, fear responses and trigger thresholds in mammals for 10 years. I am no stranger to being in frightening situations while caving, diving, horse riding, skiing and driving along the M42 during rush hour.
Fear is a critical response to danger. Without fear we would be dead. I will be discussing the science behind fear and stress, trigger thresholds, games the brain plays to keep you “safe” and how it all applies to both new cavers and experienced cavers facing stressful situations underground.
